Commissioned by McDougall Dodds Ltd, we delivered the high-specification conversion of the historic Coach House in Gosforth into eight luxury apartments over a 36-week programme in 2020. Working in close collaboration with architect Howard Litchfield, our team successfully transformed the former offices, originally part of the 18th-century Coxlodge Hall estate, into an exclusive residential development set in one of the Newcastle’s most sought-after suburban locations.
Heritage preservation & structural renewal
Set within a sensitive Grade II-listed setting, the project required a careful balance of heritage preservation and structural renewal. The buildings were stripped back to their shells, re-roofed, and their walls strapped and insulated. Combined with the design and vision of the architects and the expertise of our highly skilled tradesmen, we brought clients Chris and Katy Summers’ vision to reality while safeguarding the property’s historic integrity.
Modern luxury & security
Internally and externally, every detail was completed to an exceptional standard, featuring brand-new electrical and mechanical installations alongside high-end finishes throughout. A communal lift, entrance hall, and stairwell serve the four apartments at the front of the building, while the other properties benefit from independent access from the side. Set around a central courtyard with landscaped communal gardens and private garden space for every plot, the development is completed by a new tarmac area to the front for parking and deliveries, secured with electronic gates. This highly successful project stands as a shining example of how listed buildings can be expertly brought back to life.
